The War That Saved My Life

Bradley. Newbery Honor. A daughter and son, raised by an abusive mother, go to live with a grieving woman in the country when the children of London are evacuated during WWII. There, all three try to recover from their inner wounds. Bits of the Battle of Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, what it was like to catch spies, or live next to an air force base, along with an interesting, compelling plot. Excellent.
